We knew we wanted photos to remember the occasion of course, but we were worried that we would have to pose and not act like ourselves on our day. “Gemma photographed our wedding in snowy Finland in January 2016. I had discovered Gemma some 18 months previous to this and had felt like we had struck gold! The idea in my head for my winter wedding was a great big celebration of all the small details of Finnish winter that I loved. The snow on the branches, the rocks peeking out, the sun through the trees.
Browsing a popular Finnish wedding site, I came across a wedding that just said I LOVE FINLAND! The details were captured with awe, the couple looked oh so beautiful and everyone looked like they were having the most fun. It turned out they too were a multi-national couple and this ignited a passion to have Gemma at our wedding!
I had so, so much support from Gemma before the wedding, she was always up for a chat about this or the other. I had some annoyances with my venue and she was there to lend a hand with advice in both a practical way and just as an emotional support, something so needed as a stressed Bride!
The wedding day was perfect of course, Gemma had made sure we had planned it all correctly and I was so glad we had someone who knew what was happening at all times that wasn’t me or my husband! She communicated with all our guests and vendors with total ease, even though many had little English skills! Everyone loved her and we felt honored that she could be at her wedding as we consider her a much loved friend now who we hope to see in Finland again soon, to photograph whatever our family looks like at the time. For now, our puppy is eager to meet her!
I am not sure that it even needs to be said, but of course her photographs are amazing. The pictures we have of our dream day, the lake, the snowy cottages! Every time we go through them there is this warm, and a little sad feeling, we miss our wedding! It was so much fun! “I won’t lie, the only thing I was slightly nervous about during the whole wedding planning process was finding the right photographer. There are so many out there, it’s a big expense and really if the photos aren’t amazing, it can leave you super disappointed.
